This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was delivered new to a dealership in Newark, New Jersey, and a refurbishment under previous ownership is said to have included a repaint in Healey Blue with white side coves. Power is from a 2.9-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and additional equipment includes a blue soft top and boot cover, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, chrome bumpers and trim, a badge bar, a driver-side mirror, Smiths instrumentation, blue vinyl upholstery, a heater, and a push-button radio. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in 2022, and subsequent work has included fluids services. This BJ8 Mk III is now offered by the selling dealer with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certified Copy of a Factory Record, service records, tools, awards from car shows, a binder of refurbishment photographs, and transferable New York registration.
The car is said to have been refinished in Healey Blue with white side coves under previous ownership. Equipment includes a blue soft top and top boot as well as a hood scoop, driving lights, chrome bumpers and trim, a badge bar, a driver-side mirror, and twin exhaust outlets.
Chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires. A spare is located in the trunk, and braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. The brakes were serviced and the fluid was flushed in preparation for the sale.
The interior features seats trimmed in blue vinyl along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Appointments include burl wood veneer dashboard panels, a heater, a wooden shift knob, lap belts, rubberized floor mats, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, and a push-button radio.
A banjo-spoke steering wheel is mounted to an adjustable steering column and sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,500-rpm redline, and auxiliary gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and coolant temperature. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 20k miles, approximately 200 of which were added by the selling dealer. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and Lucas ignition components. Service performed in December 2022 included an oil change and coolant flush, and photographs of compression test results can be viewed in the gallery below.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an electronically actuated overdrive unit. The clutch fluid was replaced in preparation for the sale. The selling dealer notes corrosion on the frame rails
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certified Copy of a Factory Record lists colors, factory equipment, a dispatch date of February 15, 1967, and that it was exhibited at The Motor Show in New York.
The sale includes records, literature, tools, awards won at car shows, and a binder of refurbishment photographs.
The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for vehicles of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
