This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III received an initial refurbishment between 1997-2001, during which time it was repainted in its current British Racing Green finish. The late Austin-Healey specialist Kent Lambert acquired the car in 2018 with the intention of finishing the restoration and performed additional work between 2019 and 2022, although the project was not completed. The car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six fitted with dual SU HD8 carburetors, while shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission. It wears a black soft top over black vinyl–trimmed front bucket seats and is further equipped with a heater, a luggage rack, front disc brakes, and 15″ knock-off wire wheels. Service in 2025 is noted to have involved repairing the radiator, resealing the side covers, replacing the front main seal and valve cover gasket, and more as detailed below. This 3000 Mk III is now offered on dealer consignment in Portland, Oregon, with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment and service records, and a clean Oregon title.
The car is said to have undergone sheetmetal repair and been repainted in its current British Racing Green finish as part of the aforementioned late-1990s refurbishment. It features a folding black soft top, dual side mirrors, a luggage rack, and chrome bumpers with overriders. The selling dealer notes that the door locks are inoperative.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-ear knock-offs and mounted with 165-width Michelin XZX tires, which were installed in August 2022. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats trimmed in black vinyl with constrasting piping, and color-coordinated upholstery extends to the dash, center console, and door panels. Interior appointments include a heater, a locking glovebox, and wood trim. The seats have been re-trimmed. In preparation for the sale, the passenger window mechanism was repaired and the heater lever switch assembly, heater core, and heater valve were replaced.
The three-spoke, banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 57k miles. The fuel-level gauge was refurbished in 2019 and repaired in 2022. A replacement dashboard was installed in 2025, at which time the oil-pressure gauge hose and the choke cable were replaced. The associated invoice indicates that the tachometer is inaccurate.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. Work in 2025 involved performing a compression test in addition to the following:
Repairing the radiator and changing the hoses
Replacing the timing cover and drive belt
Changing the front main seal and valve cover gasket
Resealing the side covers
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission. The car retains a Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive unit. The selling dealer notes rust on various underside components.
The copy of the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows it was issued to Kent Lambert and lists a March 14, 1967 date of dispatch along with the factory colors, equipment, and serial numbers.
Sold for USD $34,250 on 11/14/25
