This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is said to have been refurbished by British Motor Corporation of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 2010 before being acquired by the late owner’s father in 2011. The car is finished in blue over blue leather upholstery and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six linked to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes a dark blue soft top, a blue top boot, 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, wood veneer interior trim, a cabin heater, an aftermarket radiator, an electric cooling fan, and dual SU carburetors. This BJ8 is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a tonneau cover, an assortment of spare parts, a tool kit, books, a collection of Healey Marque magazines, and a clean Idaho title in the name of the late owner’s trust.
The car was originally finished in British Racing Green, and the body is said to have been stripped and repainted in blue during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior details include a dark blue soft top, a blue top boot, a hood scoop, vent windows, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Chrome 15″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted with 165-series Michelin XZX tires. Stopping power is provided by front discs and rear drums, and the braking system is said to have been overhauled as part of the refurbishment.
The cabin is said to have been re-trimmed during the refurbishment with blue Connolly leather upholstery on the front bucket seats, folding rear jump seats, and door panels as well as Wilton wool carpeting covering aftermarket insulation on the floors. Wood veneer trim accents the dashboard, and additional appointments include a cabin heater, a locking glove compartment, front lap belts, and manual crank windows.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a tachometer, a 140-mph speedometer, and supplementary gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 78k miles, approximately 400 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is said to have been rebuilt as part of the refurbishment and is equipped with dual SU carburetors. Modifications reportedly include an aftermarket radiator, an electric cooling fan, and enlarged coolant tanks. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and it is said to have been rebuilt as part of the refurbishment.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists colors and options as well as a dispatch date of April 17, 1967.
