The body number plate actually has two lines of numbers stamped on it. The bottom line is the unique body number for your car. The top line is the "batch" number that is common to a series of cars (approximately 500 when production became stable). As the keeper of the BJ8 Registry since 1996, I am trying to determine the body number "endpoints" for each batch number. The body number of your car is, as you indicate, 86286. The batch number that goes with this body number will help me to establish the endpoints for batches 3235 and 3236. Can you provide that number from your body plate, please?
