This 1967 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was built in June 1967 and delivered new to the US. The car was acquired by the current owner’s father, late Austin-Healey specialist Kent Lambert, and refurbished in the early 2000s following approximately 25 years of storage. It was subsequently awarded a gold level certification from the Austin-Healey Concours Registry in June 2002. Finished in Ivory White over black Ambla vinyl, the car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Features include a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a top boot, a hood scoop, a cabin heater, and front bucket seats. This 3000 Mk III is now offered on dealer consignment with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment notes, part receipts, and a clean Oregon title.
The car came finished from the factory in Ivory White (WT3) and was stripped to bare metal, placed on a rotisserie, and repainted by Healey Lane Restorations in Marcola following metal work by David Pike. A replacement frame sourced from another BJ8 was also installed at that time, along with replacement door trim, headlight rings, and door handles.
The 15″ knock-off Dayton wire wheels were mounted with 165-width Michelin XZX tires in August 2022. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.
The 2+2 cabin features bucket seats that were re-trimmed in black Ambla vinyl with gray piping in the early 2000s. Replacement carpets were also installed along with a burl wood dash. A door panel was repaired in November 2024.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths black-dial instrumentation that was overhauled by Nisonger Instruments, consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. A replacement fuel level gauge was installed in October 2022. The five-digit odometer shows 56k miles.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD8 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 150 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt during the refurbishment, and a later BJ8 wiring harness and hardened exhaust seats were installed.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists the factory colors, equipment, and serial numbers.
The car achieved gold level certification from the Austin-Healey Concours Registry in June 2002, and copies of judging sheets are provided with the car.
