This 1959 Austin-Healey 3000 BN7 Mk I is said to have resided in Pennsylvania since new, and work under previous ownership included repainting the body in green as well as retrimming the interior in tan. Powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, the car is equipped with dual SU carburetors, knock-off 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, a hood scoop, a wooden shift knob, a passenger-side grab handle, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. The car was acquired by the selling dealer in April 2023, and subsequent work reportedly included replacing the tires, rear wheels, and exhaust tailpipe. This 3000 BN7 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and a Pennsylvania title.
The car left the factory finished in black and was repainted green under previous ownership. Exterior features include a hood scoop, General Electric headlights, and chrome-finished bumpers with front overriders.
Knock-off 15″ wire wheels are mounted with Vredestein Sprint Classic tires showing 2022 date codes, and the two rear wheels were reportedly replaced under current ownership. Stopping power is provided by front disc brakes and rear drums.
Originally upholstered in red, the cabin was retrimmed in tan under previous ownership and features a wooden shift knob, a passenger-side grab handle, and a dash-mounted rearview mirror. The cabin heater and climate controls have been removed.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows just under 20k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter is said to have been overhauled under previous ownership and is equipped with dual SU carburetors. An oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with an electrically actuated overdrive unit that operates in either third or fourth gear. The selling dealer states that the tailpipe was replaced following their acquisition of the vehicle.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers as well as initial delivery to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania title lists “Antique” under the brands section.

Lot #225931
This 1959 Austin-Healey 3000 BN7 Mk I is said to have been prepared for racing by its original owner after three years of road use, and then parked following a clutch failure. Recommissioning work after the second owner’s 1974 purchase included refinishing the car in green, fitting a tan interior, and rebuilding the 2.9-liter inline-six with an overbore and some of the previously used performance components. The vehicle is further equipped with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive as well as dual SU carburetors, knock-off 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Smiths instrumentation, and a wood shift knob. The seller purchased the car on BaT in May 2023 and reports subsequent work that consisted of reupholstering the seats, fitting three-point seat belts, and replacing the soft top, oil pan, and timing set along with cooling, steering, and suspension components. This 3000 Mk I is offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, owner’s and service manuals, spare parts, a car cover, and a conditional Georgia title in the seller’s name.
Knock-off 15″ wire wheels are mounted with 165-section Vredestein Sprint Classic tires produced in 2022, and the rear wheels are said to be replacement units. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. The tie rods and sway-bar bushings were reportedly replaced under current ownership, along with the left-rear shock lever.
The interior was factory-trimmed in red and underwent a color change to tan under prior ownership. The seats were reupholstered following the seller’s purchase, three-point seat belts were added, and additional appointments include a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a wood shift knob, and a passenger-side grab handle. The heater and climate controls have been removed. No side mirrors are fitted, and the seller states that the included side curtains are due for replacement.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge for oil pressure and water temperature. The horn and trip meter are inoperative. The five-digit odometer shows 21k miles, approximately 1,400 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter is said to have been race-prepared by its original owner, then rebuilt in the late 1970s with a 0.060″ overbore and retaining the racing camshaft, cylinder head, and ported intake manifold. The seller tells us that a replacement timing set, including a heavy-duty chain and a Denis Welch Motorsport hydraulic tensioner, has been installed during their time with the car, along with an aluminum oil pan and a replacement radiator, water pump, and fan belt.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The seller notes that when recently loading the vehicle onto a trailer for transport, the DEI heat shielding around the muffler was damaged and has since been removed. They add that the heat shield located above the muffler along the floorboard remains undamaged and intact, and that no other components were damaged.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers as well as a dispatch date of June 1, 1959, and initial delivery to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
