This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BN7 Mk I is said to have been refurbished in 2015 before being acquired by the current owners in February 2017 and subsequently underwent rebuilds of the 2.9-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission. The car is finished in green over black upholstery and rides on 15″ knock-off wire wheels. It is further equipped with a wood-rimmed steering wheel, Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive, dual SU HD6 carburetors, and front disc brakes. This 3000 Mk I is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owners with service records from current ownership as well as a workshop manual, a tonneau cover, spare parts, and a Washington State title in their name.
The car is finished in green and features a hood scoop and a horizontal-slat grille as well as chrome bumpers with overriders. There is no soft top.
The 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-ear knock-offs and mounted with 195/65 American Platinum tires. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums, which are said to have been serviced under current ownership.
The cabin features bucket seats trimmed that were re-trimmed with black upholstery in 2017. Further details include a dash-mounted mirror, a passenger-side grab handle, and door pockets. The heater core, control valve, and return pipe were replaced in October 2018.
The wood-rimmed steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination gauge displaying oil pressure and water temperature. The five-digit odometer shows 99k miles, approximately 3k of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD6 carburetors from the factory for a rating of 137 horsepower and 175 lb-ft of torque. The engine was rebuilt by Sports Cars Garage of Palm Desert, California, in April 2018. The seller notes difficulty starting the engine when cold.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive. The transmission was rebuilt by BritSport of Seattle, Washington, in December 2017, and the rear axle was resealed in August 2020.
A workshop manual, a tonneau cover, a lead mallet, and various spare parts are included in the sale.
The current Washington State title carries an Antique brand.
