This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I BT7 is a left-hand-drive 2+2 roadster that is finished in two-tone red and black with a red interior. Its 2.9-liter inline-six is linked with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. The car reportedly was acquired by the seller 12 years ago, and subsequent mechanical recommissioning included installing a new water pump, replacement clutch kit, stainless-steel exhaust system, and rebuilt shocks. The interior was refreshed in 2014 with new leather upholstery and a carpet kit, and a replacement soft top and Pertronix electronic ignition were also installed. This BT7 is now offered in Kansas with a black hardtop, side curtains, records from the seller, factory literature, a car cover, and a clean Missouri title in the seller’s name.
Talbot side mirrors are mounted on the fenders, and chrome bumpers with overriders are equipped front and rear. The seller notes rust on the lower body panels.
15” wire wheels wear two-eared knock-off spinners and 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic tires. A replacement fabric soft top has been installed, though not pictured. A tonneau cover and side curtains are included in the sale.
The interior was refreshed in 2014 by Ace Auto Fabric of Kansas City, Missouri, including red leather upholstery with black piping, new foam seat pads, a re-covered center armrest, new door seals, and replacement carpeting. Branded rubber mats line the footwells, and lap belts have been installed for both driver and passenger.
A banjo-style steering wheel frames chrome-ringed Smiths gauges including a 120-mph speedometer and a 6k-rpm tachometer. Less than 51k miles are shown on the five-digit odometer, approximately 11k of which were added by the seller.
The 2.9-liter inline-six features dual SU carburetors and is linked with a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Mechanical work completed by the Healey Werks of Lawton, Iowa following the seller’s purchase in 2007 included a new water pump, clutch kit, fuel pump, engine and transmission mounts, and more included. A Pertronix Flame-Thrower electronic ignition system was installed last year.
Suspension refreshment performed in 2008 included rebuilt shocks, spindles, spring rebounds, and upper bushings.
The Body Production Windscreen Card lists the factory colors as well as equipment including wire wheels, an adjustable steering column, and overdrive. The seller states that previous owners of the car kept it in Pennsylvania, Arizona, California, Tennessee, and New York.
