This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk I is a non-running project that was first titled in Pennsylvania in 1962 and was parked in a barn for more than 20 years until recently. The engine is seized and has not been started in decades. The blue-over-blue car is equipped with a 2.9-liter inline-six, dual SU carburetors, a center-shift four-speed manual transmission, and 15″ knock-off wire wheels. A removable hardtop is included in the sale, as are extra wire wheels and other spare parts. This Healey project is now offered by the selling dealer with a Pennsylvania title.
The car is finished in blue paint with darker blue accents. The hood is a different color, and the front bumper has been removed. Side mirrors are attached to both front fenders, and a luggage rack is affixed to the deck lid. The vehicle has a convertible-top frame but no canvas. Pitting, scratches, corrosion, missing paint, and other imperfections are visible.
Silver-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with Michelin tires that have not been replaced in decades. The seller notes that the vehicle rolls and steers.
A removable white hardtop will accompany the vehicle.
The 2+2 cabin is trimmed in blue upholstery with wear and damage.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths white-dial instrumentation. The five-digit odometer shows 61k miles, and the car has not been driven in more than 20 years.
The 2.9-liter inline-six featured dual SU HD6 carburetors from the factory. The seller removed the spark plugs and soaked the cylinders in preparation for the sale, but no attempt was made to turn the engine, which has not run in at least 20 years.
A later-model center-shift Austin-Healey four-speed manual transmission replaced the car’s side-shift gearbox at some point. Corrosion is visible on underbody components.
A spare cylinder head, intake manifold, and carburetors are included in the sale along with extra wheels, a radiator, a rear axle, and a seat bottom.
The chassis number is HBT7L10216, whereas the Pennsylvania title cites HBT7L010216, with an extra zero in the middle of the sequence. The title also lists the Body Type as an abbreviation for “coupe”.
