This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is a four-seat Mk I roadster that was acquired by the current owner in July 2019, reportedly from its original owner. The car was subsequently repainted, and additional work included overhauling the brakes, rebuilding the dual SU carburetors, and replacing the valve cover gasket and the fuel tank, pump, and level sending unit. It is finished in blue and white over dark blue vinyl upholstery and equipped with 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. This BT7 is now offered on dealer consignment with a replacement convertible top and frame, a tonneau cover, workshop manuals, service records, and a clean Florida title.
The body was repainted blue and white under current ownership, and the seller states that an area of rust on the trunk lid was repaired with a sheet metal patch. Additional work is said to have included replacing the brightwork, rubber seals, and exterior lenses. The seller notes a crack on the lower-left corner of the windshield. A replacement soft top and frame are included in the sale.
Silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165/80 Classic Radial LL800 All Season tires. According to the seller, the brake master cylinder, front calipers and pads, and tie rods were replaced under current ownership, while the rear drum brakes were rebuilt and stainless-steel lines were fitted.
The cockpit houses front bucket seats and contoured rear seats trimmed in dark blue vinyl with white piping accompanied by a black dashboard, door panels, and carpets. The Smiths heater does not work.
A replacement wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 80k miles, approximately 150 of which were added under current ownership.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors that are said to have been rebuilt under current ownership. Additional service reportedly included replacing the valve cover gasket, drive belt, ignition coil, battery, and downpipe, as well as the fuel tank, pump, and level sending unit.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission, and the clutch hydraulic cylinders are said to have been replaced under current ownership. The overdrive is inoperative. The seller reports that the frame was coated with POR-15 before being repainted blue.
A handful of photos from various stages of the work are provided in the gallery below.
The car number HBT7L12753 and the VIN listed on the title omits the preceding “HBT7L.” The Florida title is listed as a duplicate.
