This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk I is finished in Colorado Red and black over red upholstery and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, removable side windows, chrome-finished 15” wire wheels, four-piston front brake calipers, dual SU carburetors, a 12-volt charging system, MSD ignition, a custom center console, and a Pioneer head unit. The car reportedly underwent a refurbishment approximately 10 years ago and was acquired by the seller in January 2023. Service in preparation for the sale is said to have involved adjusting the carburetors. This BT7 is offered at no reserve with service records, a tonneau cover, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean Michigan title in the seller’s name.
The car was repainted in two-tone Colorado Red and black during the aforementioned refurbishment under previous ownership, and additional work is said to have involved replacing the windshield and black soft top. Equipment includes dual side mirrors, a hood scoop, side curtains, chrome front and rear bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. A black tonneau cover with a center zipper is included in the sale.
Chrome 15″ wheels with knock-off hubs are laced with stainless-steel spokes and mounted with 175-series Michelin ZX tires. The suspension is comprised of dual wishbones with coil springs up front and a live-axle with leaf springs at the rear. Stopping power is provided by front disc and rear drum brakes.
The cabin features front bucket seats and a rear bench that were re-trimmed under previous ownership in red leather with black piping. Additional equipment includes black carpets, a heater, a padded center armrest, lap belts, a curved shifter, and a custom center console with a Pioneer head unit.
A three-spoke steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 35k miles, approximately 100 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is fed via dual SU carburetors. Additional equipment includes a painted engine block and valve cover, an MSD ignition system, and a 12-volt charging system with an alternator. The carburetors were reportedly cleaned and adjusted in anticipation of the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was completed for the US market on November 17-18, 1960, and shows factory colors and equipment.
