Lot #89800

This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is finished in green over black and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 15″ knock-off wheels, fender-mounted mirrors, a chrome luggage rack, a banjo-style steering wheel, and lap belts. This car was reportedly refurbished in the 1970s and acquired by the current owner in 2012. This Austin-Healey is now offered by the seller on behalf of the owner with a removable soft top and side curtains, a split tonneau cover, and a clean California title.

The body was refinished in green during previous ownership. Equipment includes fender-mounted mirrors, a chrome luggage rack, and twin exhaust tips. A split tonneau cover is included in the sale along with a removable black soft top and side curtains.

15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 185/65 Kumho Sense tires. Stopping power is provided by front disc brakes and rear drums.

The interior features bucket seats trimmed in black upholstery with white piping as well as color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Equipment includes a heater, front and rear lap belts, a passenger grab bar, and a fire extinguisher.

The banjo-style steering wheel sits ahead of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 28k miles, approximately 3,500 of which were added during current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with dual carburetors and drives the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
