This 1962 Austin Healey 3000 BT7 Mark II four-seat roadster was acquired by the seller in 2018 from his brother-in-law, who reportedly acquired the car in the mid-1970s and had it refurbished in California. Power is supplied by a 2.9-liter inline-six that is fitted with triple SU carburetors and is paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Finished in red with a matching interior, the vehicle features a black convertible top, side curtains, a tonneau cover, and a heater. Modifications include a PerTronix ignition, a stainless-steel exhaust, LED headlights, and oversize tires. The carburetors were rebuilt and the water pump and the rear wheel cylinders were replaced under current ownership. This 3000 BT7 is now offered with a jack, a knock-off hammer, manufacturer’s and marque literature, maintenance records from current ownership, and a clean Texas title in the seller’s name.
The body has been refinished in red and features chrome bumpers and trim, an oval grille, a hood scoop, and twin fender-mounted mirrors. The seller added 6500k LED headlights. The passenger-side rear fender is said to have been damaged during transit by an improperly secured battery in the trunk; the area was repaired and repainted under current ownership, and flaws remain evident in this area. A dent is noted near the bottom of the driver-side door.
Replacement 15″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted with oversize 215/60 Leao Lion Sport HP tires, while the Dunlop spare in the trunk wears a narrower tire. Stopping is handled by front disc and rear drum brakes. The suspension was rebuilt under prior ownership, and the seller reports having replaced the rear wheel cylinders.
The front bucket seats and rear plus-two seats are said to have been reupholstered in red vinyl and the matching carpets replaced decades ago. Equipment includes a heater, a switch to engage overdrive, a center armrest, front lap belts, a chrome passenger grab handle, and a wood shift knob.
A wood-rimmed banjo-style steering wheel added under current ownership frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges monitoring oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 93k miles, approximately 700 of which were added by the seller.
The trunk liner was replaced under current ownership, and a replacement battery tray and hold-down bracket also were installed.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was factory rated at 132 horsepower and 167 lb-ft of torque and is equipped with a trio of SU HS4 carburetors. The engine is said to have been rebuilt under prior ownership, and the seller added PerTronix ignition, replaced the water pump, cleaned the radiator, installed a Texas Cooler fan, and had the carburetors rebuilt and synchronized.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission and an overdrive unit. The seller added a stainless-steel exhaust system.
Manufacturer’s literature and recent service records are included in the sale along with additional materials related to the model.
