This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 was acquired by its current owner in 2012, reportedly following a refurbishment under previous ownership, and is finished in red and black over black leather upholstery with red piping. Power comes from an overhauled 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment consists of triple SU carburetors, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and 15″ knock-off Dayton wire wheels. Service in February 2022 is said to have included replacing the battery and soft top, and performing ignition, carburetor, and valve adjustments. This BT7 is now offered on consignment by the selling dealer in Oregon with service records dating back to 2012, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust (BMIHT) certificate, and a clean Oregon title.
The car was factory-finished in Healey Blue and was dismantled for the refurbishment under previous ownership, at which time rust repairs were performed on the frame, door panels, and fenders and the car was refinished in red and black. Features include a black vinyl soft top with side curtains, chrome front and rear bumpers, and dual exhaust outlets. The selling dealer reports that the frame and some portions of the underside were only painted in base coat, and that the soft top was installed in February 2022.
Chrome 15″ Dayton wheels with knock-off hubs are laced with stainless-steel spokes and mounted with 165R Vredestein Sprint S80 tires. Suspension is comprised of dual wishbones with coil springs up front and a live-axle with leaf springs at the rear. Braking power is provided by discs up front and drums out back.
The 2+2 cockpit features seats upholstered in black leather with red piping which is accompanied by a matching dashboard and inner door panels. Amenities include a heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a parcel shelf under the passenger side of the dashboard, and black pile carpeting with floor mats.
A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel fronts a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit mechanical odometer shows 22k miles, approximately 1k of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was reportedly overhauled under previous ownership and is fed by triple SU carburetors. Additional equipment includes a painted engine and valve cover and Lucas ignition. Service in February 2022 is said to have included a battery replacement and an oil change as well as ignition, carburetor, and valve adjustments.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with electrically actuated Laycock de Normanville overdrive that can be engaged in third and fourth gears via a dash switch. The seller notes that the gearbox was overhauled during the refurbishment.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate indicates that the car was completed on February 14th-15th, 1962 for the The Netherlands market, and shows factory colors and equipment.
