This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is a four-seat Mk I roadster that was built on October 29, 1959, and delivered new to Portland, Ohio. A refurbishment completed in 2017 by Healey Lane Restorations of Marcola, Oregon, included a bare-metal repaint in Ivory White, an interior refresh in red leather, and rebuilds of the 2.9-liter inline-six and four-speed manual transmission. Additional work involved overhauling the brakes and suspension along with replacing the soft top, exhaust system, fuel system, and wiring harness. This 3000 BT7 Mk I was acquired by the current owner in 2018 and is now offered on dealer consignment as part of the Mohr Imports Monterey Collection Sale with refurbishment photos, a knock-off hammer, a driver’s handbook, a tonneau cover, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, and a clean California title.

Previously finished in red, the body was disassembled and received rust repairs before being painted in the factory color of Ivory White. The chrome bumpers and trim were replaced or refinished as necessary, and additional equipment includes a replacement red soft top, a hood scoop, and dual exhaust outlets. A red tonneau cover with a center zipper is included in the sale.

Replacement 15″ chrome-finished Dayton wire wheels feature two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires, while a matching spare is stored in the trunk. Suspension work performed during the refurbishment involved replacing the front springs, bushings, front sway bar, and tie rod ends. The brake system was also overhauled with rebuilt front calipers and replacement pads, hardware, and lines.

The cabin features front and rear seats that were re-trimmed under previous ownership in red leather with ivory piping. The dashboard, door panels, and center armrest were also reupholstered, and additional equipment includes red carpeting, a Smiths heater, an ashtray, and a passenger grab handle.

A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts rebuilt Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 5,250-rpm redline, a fuel gauge, and a combination meter. The five-digit odometer shows 600 miles and is said to reflect the miles traveled following the refurbishment. Total chassis mileage is unknown.

The 2.9-liter inline-six was rebuilt during the refurbishment process, and additional work involved overhauling the starter motor, generator, and dual SU carburetors. The fuel tank, fuel pump and lines, and wiring harness were replaced at that time.

The four-speed manual transmission was overhauled during the refurbishment and is equipped with an electronically engaged overdrive that operates in either third or fourth gear. The exhaust manifold has been ceramic coated and is attached to a replacement stainless steel exhaust system. Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists a shipping date of November 11, 1959, along with factory colors and options.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
