This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 is a left-hand-drive Mk I BT7 four-seat model that is said to have finished a cosmetic and mechanical refurbishment in 2011 by marque specialist Tsikuris Classics of Lakeland, Florida, prior to being acquired by the current owner in 2017. The 2,912cc inline-six was reportedly increased in capacity to 3,000cc and the car was re-finished in white and blue over a blue interior. Shifting is through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive, and the car features side curtains, dual SU carburetors, chrome bumpers with bumperettes, knock-off wire wheels, and a removable blue soft top and tonneau cover. A tune-up and an oil change were performed in 2021. This 3000 BT7 Mk I is now offered in California with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate, service records, and transferrable New York State registration in the name of the seller’s LLC.
The car is said to have undergone a color change to its present dark blue and white paint scheme. Brightwork includes headlight bezels, door-mounted side mirrors, and front and rear bumpers with bumperettes. Removable side curtains and a blue soft top and tonneau cover are included in the sale. The seller notes the presence of a crack on the hood near the intake.
Polished 15″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted with 195/65 Michelin blackwall tires, and a matching spare is housed in the trunk. Braking is provided by discs up front and drums in the rear.
The interior features 2+2 seating reupholstered in blue vinyl with white piping. Lap belts are fitted for the front occupants.
A wood-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 97k miles, and total mileage is unknown.
The car left the factory with a 2,912cc C-series inline-six. According to the seller, the cylinders were rebored under previous ownership to a capacity of 3,000cc and the engine was fitted with dual SU AUC 7081 carburetors along with replacement wiring and an electric cooling fan. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The radiator is said to have been refurbished with the correct fan guard and a fitted shroud. A tune-up and an oil change is said to have been performed in 2021.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists factory colors and identification numbers as well as build dates of December 17-21, 1959. A data tag shown in the gallery matches chassis number H-BT7-L/6295. The car does not have a title, as it is registered in a state that does not issue titles for a vehicle of its age. It is being sold on its registration.
