This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 was sold new at Empire Sports Car Center in Boulder, Colorado and reportedly remained with the original owner until it was purchased in 1981 by a former Austin-Healey concours judge. It then underwent a refurbishment and was subsequently shown in several concours events between 1991 and 1999. Acquired by the seller six months ago, the car is finished in British Racing Green over an gray and green leather interior and is equipped with a factory hardtop and wire wheels. Power is provided by a 2.9L inline-six paired with a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive. This Mark I BT7 has twice been awarded a gold standard from the Austin-Healey Concours Registry and is said to have been driven just over 600 miles in the last 20 years. It is now offered with notes from the refurbishment, a driver’s handbook, warranty card, a copy of the factory build sheet, a soft top, side curtains, tools, and a clean Colorado title in the seller’s name.

The exterior was repainted in British Racing Green in 1984 using Ditzler catalyzed acrylic enamel according to notes from the previous owner. A description of the work from that owner also notes that care was taken to retain and reinstall original fasteners during the process.

15” painted wire wheels were a factory option and wear 2-eared knock-off hubs and Dunlop SP4 tires. A white factory hardtop is equipped and a soft top is also included as well as side curtains with sliding Perspex windows and a tonneau cover. A badge bar is equipped and mounted with driving lights along with several event and club badges.

The cabin features 2+2 seating and is trimmed in gray leather upholstery with dark green piping and green Karvel carpeting with branded rubber floor mats. Factory equipment includes a heater and an adjustable steering column.

Smiths instrumentation includes a 120-mph speedometer and a 5-digit odometer showing 29k miles. Documentation from the refurbishment notes that the odometer did not work upon purchase in 1981. An odometer reading of 28,531 is noted in 1999, and the trip meter shows 613 miles and reportedly reflects mileage driven since that time. The seller has added about 40 miles during six months of ownership.

The 2.9L C-Series inline-six features twin SU carburetors and was rated at 124 horsepower when new. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 4-speed manual gearbox with a factory optional Laycock de Normanville overdrive. Mechanical work is referenced in notes from the previous owner who completed the refurbishment, though specifics are not outlined.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate lists a build date of April 20, 1960, as well as colors and options. Also included with the sale is a binder of notes regarding the refurbishment, Austin-Healey Concours Registry gold standard certificates from 1991 and 1997, a driver’s handbook, a factory warranty card, and tools.
