Austin Healey
Have just purchased a Austin Healey BN1 Registration number ROL600, Have managed to find the following information, Bought at the Earls court motor show in 1955 by Mr M J Horton who lived at the time in Rugby. The information I have it would sujest he emigrated to South Africa in 1974. The car was stripped down in the UK and shipped out in Boxes It would appear that Mr Horton did not rebuild the car but sold it to a Mr J D Tanner living in Pietermaritzburg South Africa, he was to be the cars second owner and was responsible for rebuilding the car to show winning standards as it did win a couple of shows, he was also responsible for changing the colour from Spruce Green to Red its African Number was NP1955, it was used in local rallies and tours, however having had a accident whilst horse ridding needed to sell the car this was in 1991, the car was bought by a UK car dealer his name may have been Mr M Jenkins of Bridgend on its return to UK he obtained the original UK registration number ROL 600, He then sold the car to a Mr G Turner of Newport in February 1991, was to be the third private owner , Information I have he may have taken car on a 2000 mile tripe and hill climb to Prague ,Czechoslovakia looks like he owned the car until 2009 and a couple of dealers later me have M. O. T s which confirms the mileage to be 37,000 Plus 100,000
