This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 Roadster was completed on September 20, 1955 and dispatched to Hambro Trading Inc. in the US. The car is said to have resided in California before it was purchased in 2016 by the seller, who had the car refurbished by marque specialist Autofarm Ltd. of Ontario, Canada. There the car was disassembled, the drivetrain and running gear were overhauled, the body was repainted in white and red, and interior was retrimmed in red leather. Power comes from a 2,660cc inline-four mated to a four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Additional equipment includes dual SU carburetors, a louvered hood, a black soft top, side curtains, and 15” wire wheels. This BN2 is now offered in Canada with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a tonneau cover, refurbishment invoices, memorabilia, and an Ontario registration document in the seller’s name.

The body was stripped, repaired, and repainted in Old English White and Claret Red. The louvered aluminum hood is secured with a leather strap, and additional details include a replacement tilt-down windshield, a black soft top with removable side curtains, and chrome bumpers with overriders.

Replacement chrome-finished 15″ knock-off wire wheels are secured with chrome spinners and mounted with 165-series Michelin tires. The steering, suspension, and four-wheel drum brakes were overhauled during the refurbishment.

The bucket seats are trimmed in red leather with white piping that extends to the center armrest and door panels. The dashboard fascia is painted white, while the contrasting instrument bezel is finished in silver. Lap belts are provided for both occupants, and additional details include red carpets, a white headliner, a dash-mounted rear-view mirror, and a passenger grab handle.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 140-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows approximately 500 miles and was reset during the build.

The 2,660cc inline-four was overhauled under current ownership and is equipped with dual SU carburetors and a cold-air intake box with a 100M badge. The seller notes that the cylinder head has been modified for use with unleaded fuel. Additional equipment includes a polished valve cover and a stainless-steel exhaust system.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox equipped with a Laycock de Normanville overdrive unit.

The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists a build date of September 20, 1955, factory specifications, and an initial dealer destination of Hambro Trading Inc. USA.

Photos taken during stages of the refurbishment can be viewed in the gallery below. Invoices from the refurbishment will accompany the car along with a tonneau cover, marque literature, and memorabilia.

The vehicle is being sold on its Ontario registration, which serves as the ownership document in Ontario, Canada. The sale does not include a title.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
