This 1956 Austin-Healey 100 BN2 Roadster was acquired in 2001 by the seller as a disassembled project and subsequently underwent a refurbishment that was completed in 2013. Work included a repaint in blue, an overhaul of the 2.7-liter inline-four, installation of a Toyota five-speed manual transmission, and refreshment of the interior, electrical system, instrumentation, and brakes. The car is equipped with a white soft top, an adjustable reclining windshield, a Derrington steering wheel, electronic ignition, twin SU carburetors, fog lamps, and Dayton knock-off wire wheels. It has been kept at the Murphy Auto Museum in Oxnard, California since 2011 and was previously listed on BaT in November 2021. This BN2 roadster is now being offered with a knock-off tool and jack, a BMIHT certificate, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Reno Red, the car was repainted its current shade of Healey Ice Blue during the refurbishment. Details include a white soft top with a zip-out rear window, an adjustable reclining windshield, front driving lamps, back-up lights, and a front badge bar. Exterior lighting has been converted to LED, a third brake light was added, and a mechanical brake light switch installed.
The 15” Dayton 72-spoke chrome and stainless steel wire wheels feature two-eared knock-off spinners and are wrapped in 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires showing 2019 date codes. Stopping power is provided by drums at each corner with a Wilwood brake master cylinder. A matching spare is housed in the trunk along with an aftermarket knock-off wrench.
The cockpit features bucket seats trimmed in blue leather with white piping and matching door panels and carpets. Equipment includes an upholstered center arm rest, three-point retractable seatbelts, aftermarket toggle switches under the dashboard, and a passenger-side grab handle. The driver’s seat adjuster track has been removed, a passenger footwell cool air blower installed, and Reflectix sound deadening and heat insulation applied under the carpets. The aftermarket cruise control was removed since the last auction.
A wood-rimmed Derrington steering wheel fronts a painted metal dashboard that houses instrumentation including a Smiths 6k-rpm tachometer and 120-mph speedometer, and auxiliary Westach gauges for fuel level, coolant temperature, oil pressure, and voltage. The five-digit odometer was reset to zero during the refurbishment and now shows 400 miles. A replacement wiring harness has been installed.
The 2,660cc inline-four was reportedly rebuilt and fitted with a 100M camshaft, twin polished H4 SU carburetors, an aftermarket finned valve cover, and Mallory Unilite electronic distributor with a Bosch blue coil. Additional equipment is said to include the following components:
Electric radiator pusher fan
Texas Kooler puller fan blade
Coolant overflow tank
Gear reduction starter
Polished alternator
Facet-Purolator Gold-Flo fuel pump
Seven circuit fuse box
An external fuel tank vent
A five-speed manual transmission was sourced from a Toyota and installed by the seller with a Smitty bell housing plate. Additional upgrades are said to include a BJ8-spec flywheel and clutch plate, a gearbox restraint chain, a custom fiberglass transmission tunnel cover, and a 3.54:1 rear axle.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate identifies factory colors, identification numbers, and options.
The car is titled using engine number 1B230524.
