Lot #152003
This 1956 Austin-Healey BN2 Roadster is one of 640 factory-built 100M “Le Mans” examples and was completed on February 21, 1956. Finished in white over black upholstery, the car is powered by a 2,660cc inline-four equipped with twin SU carburetors and mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Additional equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, a louvered hood, a folding windshield, and a wood-rimmed steering wheel. It was acquired as a project by the selling dealer in 2024 and subsequent work involved reassembling the car and rebuilding the brake master cylinder, replacing the fuel pump, and repairing the oil pump. This 100M is now offered in Connecticut with spare parts, a service manual, a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, 100M “Le Mans” Registry Certificates of Membership, and a clean Florida title.
Finished from the factory in duotone white and black, the car has been repainted white and the seller notes evidence of prior bodywork. Exterior details include chrome bumpers with overriders as well as a louvered hood, a tilt-down windshield, and a single exhaust outlet. The leather hood strap and grille badge are missing. Uninstalled convertible top components and side curtains are included in the sale.
Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured via knock-off spinners and mounted with 165/80 Nexen SB-802 tires. The 100M featured a double-wishbone front suspension with stiffened coil springs and an upgraded anti-roll bar. Service performed in April 2024 involved rebuilding the brake master cylinder as well as bleeding the four-wheel drum brake system.
The cockpit houses a pair of bucket seats trimmed in black leatherette with white piping accompanied by a body-color dash that incorporates a heater, a rearview mirror, and a 100M registry placard. The aluminum cockpit surround trim pieces are stamped with the car’s body number, 12354. Neither carpets nor door panels are installed, though the seller notes they will accompany the sale.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation, of which the 120-mph speedometer and auxiliary gauges are inoperative. The five-digit odometer shows 1 mile, and total mileage is unknown.
The 2,660cc inline-four features twin SU carburetors, and output was factory rated at 110 horsepower. Recommissioning in 2024 included installing a Facet fuel pump, repairing the oil pump, and cleaning the ignition points as well as replacing the carburetor needle valves and adjusting the timing. The engine ID tag has been removed and the cold air box is missing.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. The clutch rod was adjusted in anticipation of the sale, and the seller notes corrosion along the underside.
The BMIHT certificate indicates that the car is a factory 100M model built for the North American export market and lists factory equipment and identification numbers. The 100M “Le Mans” Registry Certificates of Membership were issued in August 1995 and May 2013.
A selection of spare and removed parts will accompany the sale.
Bid to $42,500 on 6/24/24

Condition Project
1956 Austin Healey 100M, LeMans. 1 of 640 factory built cars. Certified by the 100M registry and with a Heritage Certificate stating it left the factory in Feb 1956 as a 100M.
Correctly number M louvered hood, carbs and cockpit molding. Period, dealer installed, wood rim Derrington steering wheel. Originally two tone white with black, now painted white. It is in excellent running and driving condition.
The car was at the end of a restoration by the previous owner when he passed on. He stripped the car to the chassis, and performed a frame up restoration on it. Fully rebuilt the engine, brakes and suspension. The car is in very good rust free condition.
Some work still remains to be done on the car. Mostly interior work and a few other minor items.
On factory 100M the numbers are important to know: The louvered hood and 3 of the 4 cockpit moldings are correctly numbered. The engine tag is missing off the engine. The distributor, vacuum advance and carburetors are all numbered correctly and original for this 100M. The trunk lid has no number.
The convertible top and frame are currently not installed. They come with the car. The interior door panels are currently not installed. They are with the car.
This car represents the very best of 1950’s sports car motoring. It is a great opportunity for someone to own a factory 100M certified by the registry.
