This 1956 Austin-Healey 100M BN2 roadster is one of 640 factory-built 100M “Le Mans” examples produced over a 10-month span, and it was built on March 14, 1956 and dispatched to the United States. The car was purchased by the current owner in 1997 and subsequently was refurbished during the 2000s, when the frame was replaced with a unit supplied by Jule Enterprises of Ontario, Canada, the body was refinished in white and black, and the black vinyl upholstery was replaced. Power is supplied by a replacement 2.7-liter inline-four paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 15″ knock-off wire wheels, a removable black soft top, a tonneau cover, dual SU carburetors, and a high-lift camshaft. Service conducted in October 2025 involved repairing the generator and the voltage regulator as well as replacing the water pump, radiator hoses, and overdrive solenoid. This 100M is now offered in Connecticut on dealer consignment with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, a copy of an email confirming inclusion in the Worldwide 100M Registry, refurbishment photos, service records, an owner’s manual, a service handbook, a tool kit, and transferable New York registration in the owner’s name.
Finished from the factory in white and black, the car was repainted during the aforementioned refurbishment. The louvered hood is secured with a leather tie-down strap, and other features include a replacement black soft top, a black tonneau cover, a tilt-down windshield, a single exhaust outlet, and chrome bumpers with overriders.
Silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 165R15 Dunlop all-season tires. Braking is handled by drums at each corner.
The bucket seats have been retrimmed in white-piped black vinyl supplied by Heritage Upholstery in California. Interior appointments include black carpeting, a painted dashboard, a heater, a passenger-side grab handle, and door-panel pockets.
The banjo-style steering wheel frames rebuilt Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 200 miles, and less than 1k miles have been added under current ownership. The seller states that the odometer reading is not accurate, and true mileage is unknown.
The 100M-specification 2,660cc inline-four added larger SU carburetors, an aluminum cold-air box, a higher-lift camshaft, and 8.1:1-compression pistons. This engine is said to have been replaced. The water pump, radiator hoses, and fuel float were replaced in October 2025, and the generator and the voltage regulator were repaired.
A replacement frame from Jule Enterprises was adapted to the car during the refurbishment. Power is directed to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive; the overdrive solenoid and switch were replaced in October 2025.
The body number is found in several places, including the edge of the hood seen above.
Issued to the current owner in May 1997, the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows factory equipment and indicates that the car was dispatched on March 14, 1956, to the United States with 100 M “Le Mans” equipment. An August 2025 email from 100M registrar Jean Caron to the selling dealer also verifies 100M equipment and notes that this vehicle has been part of the Worldwide 100M Registry since August 2002.
The vehicle is being sold on its New York registration, which serves as the ownership document in New York.
