For André Trigano, Austin was a particularly important make, as it was in an Austin A90 Atlantic that he took part in his first Monte Carlo Rally in 1952, with Georges Houel. A few months later, he bought an Austin-Healey 100 (which succeeded the Atlantic in 1953 with the same engine). He was due to compete with it in the Tour de France Auto, but after two owners of identical models were involved in serious accidents, he decided not to take part. He sold the Austin-Healey shortly afterwards, but had so liked the car that he never stopped looking for another one!
The model we are presenting was purchased in 1976 and restored more recently, having been sold new in France. It is a BN2 (and not BN1, as is erroneously indicated on the registration certificate), one of the most sought-after versions: its 2.6-litre four-cylinder engine is mated to a four-speed gearbox with overdrive. A lightweight car, the BN2 comes across as a radical roadster, with a fold-down windscreen, while its doors lack both wind-up windows and external door handles. In this instance, the car is fitted with a hood but no side screens. The body has been recently repainted and the interior is well preserved.
With only 4604 cars built, the BN2 is rarer than its predecessor, and this attractive left-hand drive model is highly desirable.
We inform buyers that all the vehicles in the collection have been little used during the last years as they are part of a museum collection. They are sold as presented and therefore require recommissioning before being driven on the public roads.
Since the catalog was published, the majority of the vehicles have undergone a technical inspection (French MOT). We invite you to consult the files of the cars.
