This 1957 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a 4-seat roadster which is powered by a later 2,912cc C-series inline-six mated to a 4-speed manual transmission and a Laycock overdrive. The car was acquired for the collection of its current owner in 2017, reportedly from a previous owner of over 15 years. Subsequent work included an exterior refurbishment in teal as well as modifications such as front disc brakes and a triple-carburetor setup. Maintenance performed by the owner’s private mechanic consisted of light bulb replacements and a trafficator rebuild in fall 2018. This BN4 is offered on consignment by the selling dealer with transferrable New York registration.

The seller states that the body was stripped following the current owner’s acquisition in 2017, and rust was reportedly repaired in the tail panel prior to a repaint in the current teal. The new removable fabric top includes a vinyl backlight.

Amber turn indicator bulbs are fitted behind clear lenses, and smoked brake lamps are equipped at the rear. Wire 15” knock-off wheels wear a satin finish and are mounted with 195/65 Rydanz tires. The seller notes that front disc brakes were retrofitted, and an aftermarket radio antenna is mounted on the right front fender.

The cockpit features seating and lap belts for four occupants. A wood shift knob has been installed, and a hole can be seen in the shifter boot. The trunk is lined with a vinyl mat and houses the battery and a matching spare wire wheel.

The three-spoke banjo steering wheel is fitted with a trafficator switch which was reportedly rebuilt in 2018. The body-colored dash features Smiths instrumentation including an inoperative water temperature gauge and an odometer showing 20k miles. Approximately 400 miles have been driven under current ownership, and total mileage is unknown.

The 2,912cc C-series inline six was reportedly sourced from an early-1960s Austin-Healey 3000, and features a triple SU carburetor setup. The car has reportedly been maintained by the private mechanic for the current owner’s collection, who last serviced it in fall 2018 prior to winter storage.

The seller states that the car was recently driven on a round trip from New York to Connecticut. The 4-speed manual gearbox and electrically-actuated Laycock overdrive are believed by the selling dealer to be contemporary to the replacement engine.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
