This 1958 Austin-Healey 100-6 is a four-seat BN4 roadster that was acquired by the seller in 2018 after reportedly being stored in a garage for the previous 29 years. The car is refinished in black over black vinyl upholstery and powered by a 2.6-liter inline-six mated to a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes 15″ wire wheels, a black soft top, side curtains, Marchal driving lights, dual SU carburetors, polished bumpers with overriders, a custom trailer hitch, and latch-and-link seatbelts. Work carried out under the seller’s ownership consisted of cleaning the carburetors, adjusting the brakes, and replacing the clutch master cylinder, brake master cylinder, six wheel cylinders, slave cylinder, fuel pump and filter, water pump, thermostat, fan belt, spark plugs and wires, voltage regulator, tires, and fluids. This 100-6 BN4 was featured as the Hagerty Drivers Club magazine cover story and is now offered at no reserve with a tonneau cover, a spare fuel tank, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.

The car was originally finished in Primrose Yellow and was repainted in the current shade of black under previous ownership. Equipment includes side curtains with Perspex sliding windows, polished bumpers with overriders, aftermarket Marchal driving lights, a fender-mounted side mirror, dual exhaust outlets, and a black soft top with a replacement rear window. The Marchal driving lights are operated on an independent wiring system, and a custom hitch uses plug-in four-pin wiring in the factory wiring loom. The rear skirt panel is rusted, the side windows are scratched with missing a chip at one corner on the driver’s side, the fuel tank is dented, there are no keys for the trunk lock or driver’s door lock, and the seller believes rust repairs were performed in front of the rear wheel wells. Stone chips and various blemishes and imperfections are present around the body.

Silver-finished 15″ wire wheels are secured with two-eared knock-off spinners and are wrapped in 165-series Michelin XAS tires that show 2018 date codes. The chassis is fitted with a front Koni tube-shock conversion, and braking is handled by four-wheel drums. Under the seller’s ownership, the front brake shoes were cleaned and aligned, the drums were adjusted, and the brake master cylinder and all six wheel cylinders were replaced.

The four-seat cabin features black vinyl upholstery with white piping. Equipment includes aircraft-style latch-and-link front lap belts, rubber floor mats, and a passenger grab handle. Two metal 1962 rally plaques from events in Southern California remain affixed to the dash. The driver’s inner door latch is inoperable, the heater is disconnected, the heater controls are frozen, the carpets have been removed, the dash pad and trim are torn, and the plywood backing panels are peeling. The seller also states the reach adjustment for the steering wheel is stuck in the open sliding position.

The three-spoke banjo-style steering wheel frames Smiths instrumentation that includes a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. Aftermarket gauges for coolant temperature and voltage are mounted under the dashboard, and the factory coolant temperature sender is inoperable. The five-digit odometer shows 22,600 miles, approximately 2k of which were added by the seller. The total mileage is unknown.

The 2.6-liter inline-six was factory rated at 117 horsepower and is equipped with a trunk-mounted battery, a cast-aluminum valve cover, a six-blade fan, and twin SU carburetors. Work carried out under the seller’s ownership since 2018 replacing the clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder, fuel pump and filter, water pump, thermostat, fan belt, spark plugs and wires, voltage regulator, tires, and fluids. The carburetor remote float and needle assemblies were also disassembled and cleaned, and are fed by a replacement factory-style fuel pump with electronic controls in place of contact points. The seller notes the engine or transmission intermittently drips fluid and the coolant temperature reads between 180 and 200 degrees. A spare fuel tank is included in the sale.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with a functioning electronic overdrive. The seller notes corrosion on the exhaust system.

The car is titled in California using the car number BN4L056850.

The car was featured in the May-June 2021 Hagerty Drivers Club magazine cover story along with the September-October 2019 edition of Motorcycle Classics.
