For sale on ebay: cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1965-Austin-Healey-3000-MKIII-Solid-Original-Cond-Runs-D ...

Offered for sale is a very good, original, honest, unrestored 1965 Austin Healey 3000 MKIII. This wonderful Healey is a Phase II car with single light body, as there were only a few hundred of these transitional cars, it makes this one quite rare. These were arguably the best looking of the all the 3000 series cars. This car was originally located in Kansas and for the last 22 years it has been stored indoors in a heated garage. The original color scheme for this 3000 was the very rare and desirable black exterior with red interior, with evidence of both in multiple areas. The frame is in very good condition and is straight and solid, and shows no signs of collisions.

This 3000 will need sills, floors, and outriggers. The rear fenders and boot lid had been replaced at one time with fiberglass components, however good used steel originals are included with the car. A new battery, oil and filter change, radiator hoses, coolant, and a quick tune and this Healey fired right up. It goes down the road straight and smooth. Prior to being placed in storage, a new clutch, brakes and hydraulic had been done. While the hydraulics will need to be addressed at some point in a restoration, this car does drive, track, steer and stop very well. It cruises at 70 MPH effortlessly and the overdrive is very crisp. We have put at least 50 miles or so on the car and it really is quite nice to drive.

Good original cars are getting harder and harder to find, and especially ones that are usable as is.

The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
