This 1965 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III is finished in white over black upholstery and was acquired by the seller in 1978. The car is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a Toyota-sourced five-speed manual transmission and is equipped with a black soft top and tonneau cover, a chrome luggage rack, and 15″ chrome wire wheels with knockoffs. Additional features include an electronic fuel pump and ignition, a stainless-steel exhaust, and a push-button AM radio. Service under current ownership is said to have consisted of repainting the car, repairing rust, and replacing the top. This BJ8 is offered with a clean Wisconsin title in the seller’s name.
The body is finished in white and is said to have been repainted under current ownership in 1985 with additional work that reportedly included replacing the inner and outer sills, rocker panels, rear fender dog legs, floor pans, trunk floor, and trunk lid as well as installing a front fender lower patch panel. A replacement black soft top is installed, and additional equipment includes a tonneau cover, a rear luggage rack, dual side mirrors, and chrome bumpers and trim. Paint chips and rust bubbles are visible on various panels.
Chrome 15″ 72-spoke wire wheels with two-eared knock-offs are mounted with 165/80 Classic All Season tires, and a spare wheel is secured in the trunk. The tires are in need of replacement due to age. Stopping power is provided by front disc brakes and rear drums.
The 2+2 cockpit features seats upholstered in black vinyl with contrasting piping along with color-coordinated door panels and carpets. Additional equipment includes front lap belts, a cabin heater, a push-button AM radio, and a dash-mounted mirror. The upholstery is worn, and the finish on the wood veneer dash is cracked.
The banjo-style steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a 7k-rpm tachometer, and gauges for fuel level, oil pressure, and water temperature. The five-digit odometer is broken and shows 95k miles. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with dual SU carburetors and features an electronic fuel pump and ignition, a stainless-steel exhaust, and a five-blade fan.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Toyota-sourced five-speed manual transmission that was retrofitted under current ownership. The seller notes that the front end of the frame is bent.
