This 1966 Austin-Healey 3000 BJ8 Mk III was acquired by the current owner in July 1981 and subsequently underwent refurbishment work that included repainting it in green, reupholstering the interior, and overhauling the 2.9L inline-six and four-speed manual transmission. Equipment includes an overdrive unit, a black soft top, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, dual SU carburetors, a Monza exhaust system, a dual fuel pump conversion, chrome bumpers with overriders, a Moto-Lita steering wheel, and a Sony CD stereo. Work in 2022 is said to have included resealing the valve cover and replacing shifter bushings, door straps, and tune-up components. This BJ8 is now offered on dealer consignment with a fire extinguisher, an emergency jack, a knock-off hammer, a black top boot, repair manuals, service records, refurbishment photos, and a clean Colorado title.
The car was repainted in green during refurbishment work that was reportedly completed in 2000. Exterior details include a black soft top with a matching boot, chrome bumpers with overriders, a driver-side mirror, vent windows, bright trim, and twin exhaust outlets with polished finishers. The door straps are said to have been replaced in 2022 and paint cracking on the hood is visible.
Painted 15″ wire wheels are secured by two-eared knock-off spinners and are mounted with 195/75 Yokohama 372 All-Season tires. Unlike its predecessor the 100, the 3000 was equipped with front disc brakes.
The four-place cabin is upholstered in black leather with matching carpets and a wood dashboard. A wood shift knob, a heater, and a Sony AM/FM/CD stereo are also installed. Shifter bushings were reportedly replaced in 2022.
A wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a 140-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 9k miles, though the current owner has driven the car approximately 10k miles.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is fed by dual SU carburetors, and the crankshaft was reportedly replaced in the 1980s. The engine is also equipped with a Monza exhaust system and both electric and mechanical fuel pumps. The selling dealer states that service in 2022 included resealing the valve cover and replacing the ignition rotor, condenser, and spark plugs.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
Additional documentation accompanying the car includes repair manuals and service records.
