Private Party Or Dealer: Dealer

This 1961 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is a four-seat roadster that is finished in two-tone red and ivory over black leather and powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a five-speed “Smitty” manual transmission. Features include chrome 15″ wire wheels, dual SU carburetors, front disc brakes, a stainless steel exhaust system, a Smiths heater, and a Moto-Lita steering wheel. The car was recently acquired by the selling dealer from the previous long-term owner. This 3000 BT7 is now offered with partial service records, the removed soft top and frame, a tonneau cover, side curtains, and a clean Oregon title.

The body was repainted in two-tone red and ivory under previous ownership. The black soft top and frame have been removed and are included in the sale along with a tonneau cover and side curtains. Close-up photos of the paintwork and trim can be viewed in the gallery.

Chrome 15″ wire wheels feature two-eared knockoffs and wear 205/65 Uniroyal Tiger Paw tires. A matching spare is mounted in the trunk. Braking is handled by front discs and rear drums.

The cabin features front and rear seats trimmed in black leather with red piping along with a matching dash pad, door panels, and carpets. Equipment includes a Smith’s heater, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, lap belts, and an aftermarket shift knob.

A three-spoke Moto-Lita wood steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation consisting of a 120-mph speedometer, a 6k-rpm tachometer, and gauges measuring oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 91k miles.

The replacement 2.9-liter inline-six features twin SU carburetors along with an aftermarket ignition coil and spark plug wires. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a replacement five-speed “Smitty” Toyota manual gearbox.

Additional photos of the underside are provided in the image gallery.

The removed soft top, top frame, and side curtains are included in the sale.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
