This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is a Mk II 4-seat roadster that was the subject of a 17-month refurbishment in sage green over beige leather completed in October 2018 by British Restoration Corp. of Philadelphia. The work encompassed the body, chassis, drivetrain, suspension, electrical system, hydraulics, interior, glass, and trim as detailed in an accompanying agreement. The rear wheels are driven by a period 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a Toyota 5-speed manual transmission, and additional upgrades include Dayton wire wheels, a leather interior, wool carpeting, mohair roof components, a stainless steel exhaust system, and more. The customer for whom the car was built could not take it due to illness, and it is now offered by the selling dealer in West Vancouver, British Columbia with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate and clear British Columbia registration.
The car is said to have been acquired in non-running condition at an estate sale, and was originally finished in Colorado Red with a black top. Records from British Restoration Corp. indicate that the recent work included sandblasting the tub and removing the existing paint from all inner and outer panels. A new front valance, sills, and rocker panels were installed and the body was repainted in sage green metallic with a clear coat finish.
New 15″ Dayton wire wheels with knock-off hubs wear Vredestein Sprint Classic radial tires sized 185/70. The car also received a new windshield, bumpers, badge bar, and exterior lights including driving lamps. Shown from multiple angles in the photo gallery below, the green convertible top is composed of mohair and complemented by new side curtains and a matching tonneau cover.
The 2+2 cabin was reupholstered in beige with green piping and features a wood-rimmed Moto-Lita steering wheel. Leather covers the seats, dashboard, and door panels. Wool carpeting has been installed over floorboards and toe boards that were replaced by British Restoration Corp. along with the front and rear seat pans.
The dash switches were replaced during the recent work, and the Smiths gauges were rebuilt. The 5-digit odometer displays just 22 miles since completion of the work. Koolmat insulation was installed and is shown in the front footwells. The trunk features a full-size matching spare wheel and tire, and received a replacement board and battery tray as well as new tools.
The period 2.9L inline-six bears a 26D serial number prefix consistent with those installed in earlier BN6 models. British Restoration Corp. performed a “high-performance” rebuild with new pistons, a resurfaced crankshaft and lifters, and a performance cam as well as replacement main, cam, and rod bearings and hardened valve seats. The triple SU carburetors, heater box, wiper motor, and distributor were rebuilt, while new components include an aluminum sump, spin-on oil filter conversion, upgraded radiator, electric thermostat fan, high-torque starter, fuel tank, and stainless steel exhaust system.
Shifting is through a Toyota 5-speed manual gearbox installed behind a lightened flywheel. The restoration agreement states that the chassis was coated with polyester filler and seam sealed on the underside, trunk bay, cockpit, and engine bay prior to painting. The suspension was sandblasted, and the car also received a new brake booster, front rotors, and lines along with relined rear drum brake shoes. The kingpins and leaf springs were also replaced, and the shocks reconditioned.
The BMIHT certificate reveals that this car was originally finished in Colorado Red with red trim and a black top. It was dispatched to the US in May 1961 equipped with wire wheels, a heater, an adjustable steering column, and a 4-speed manual transmission with overdrive.
The restoration agreement is included The price was quoted at $105,000 including the donor car.

This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is a Mk II four-seat roadster that was refurbished under previous ownership in 2017–2018 and subsequently was acquired by the seller on BaT in December 2018. The refurbishment was conducted by British Restoration Corp. of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and work involved rebuilding the BN6-sourced 2.9L inline-six, installing a replacement Toyota-sourced five-speed manual transmission, overhauling the brakes and the suspension, repainting the car in green, and refreshing the interior with beige leather upholstery. Additional equipment includes a green soft top, removable side curtains, Dayton 15″ wire wheels, front disc brakes, triple SU carburetors, and a stainless-steel exhaust system. The fuel pump is said to have been repaired and the oil changed under current ownership. This 3000 BT7 is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate, refurbishment records, a driver’s handbook, a tonneau cover, and an Ohio title in the name of the seller’s living trust.
The car was finished from the factory in Colorado Red, and the body was stripped, various panels were replaced, and it was repainted green during the aforementioned refurbishment. Exterior details include a green soft top, a matching top boot, removable side curtains, a hood scoop, driving lights, a driver-side mirror, and chrome bumpers with overriders. A tonneau cover will accompany the vehicle.
Dayton 15″ wire wheels with knock-off hubs are mounted with 185/70 Vredestein Sprint Classic radial tires, and a matching spare is located in the trunk. Braking is provided by front discs and rear drums. Brake work performed during the refurbishment included replacing the brake booster, front rotors, and lines along with relining the rear shoes. The kingpins and leaf springs were also replaced, and the shocks were reconditioned.
The cabin was refreshed as part of the refurbishment and features front bucket seats and a rear bench that were reupholstered in beige leather with green piping. Appointments include a leather dash pad, a passenger-side grab handle, a dash-mounted rearview mirror, rubber floor mats, and a cabin heater.
A wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts Smiths instrumentation that includes a rebuilt 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, a fuel-level gauge, and a combination readout. The five-digit odometer was reset during the refurbishment and shows 490 miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership; total chassis mileage is unknown. The overdrive switch on the dash now controls the driving lamps.
The BN6-sourced inline-six is said to have been rebuilt and bored to displace 2.9 liters by British Restoration Corp. during the refurbishment. Additional work included rebuilding the triple SU carburetors, heater box, wiper motor, and distributor as well as installing a replacement aluminum oil sump, spin-on oil filter, radiator, electric thermostat fan, high-torque starter, and fuel tank. The fuel pump was repaired and an oil change was performed in preparation for the sale.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Toyota-sourced five-speed manual transmission. Work performed as part of the refurbishment included sandblasting various underside components, coating the chassis with polyester filler, sealing seams, and painting the underside as well as installing a lightened flywheel and a stainless-steel exhaust system.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate lists the May 5, 1961 dispatch date along with factory colors, serial numbers, and equipment.
The Ohio title reads “Non-Actual Warning: Odometer Discrepancy” under the Mileage Notation section.
