This 1962 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 is finished in blue over black vinyl and is powered by a 2.9-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission with overdrive. Equipment includes a black soft top, a removable black hardtop, 15″ knock-off wire wheels, triple SU carburetors, and a Racemark steering wheel. The car was reportedly acquired out of long-term storage by the seller in December 2021, and subsequent service is said to have included overhauls of the braking, cooling, and fuel systems as well as replacement of the tires and the muffler. This Austin-Healey is now offered with a British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and a clean California title describing the car as a 1963 model.
The car was repainted blue under previous ownership, and equipment includes a black soft top, a removable black hardtop, and chrome trim. The side spears and the bumper overriders have been removed, and noted flaws include bent front bumper brackets, a yellowed soft top window, filler behind the left-rear wheel, uneven door gaps, a missing license plate lamp, and rust in the left door sill, the bottom of the left door, the wheel wells, and the quarter panels. Photos of paint meter readings are provided in the gallery.
Knock-off 15″ wire wheels are mounted with 165-section Vredestein Sprint Classic tires that show 2021 date codes. The seller reports that service since December 2021 includes rebuilding the front brake calipers and replacing the brake master cylinder, brake lines and hoses, front pads, rear shoes, and rear wheel cylinders. The seller notes a wheel vibration in the car at 70-75 mph.
The four-place cabin is trimmed in black vinyl with black carpets. The driver’s door panel and the passenger-side carpeting are missing, the seat cushion foam is dry and crumbling, and the interior door releases are inoperable. Luggage rack mounting holes on the trunk lid have been welded shut, and the trunk lid limit cable is broken.
A wood-rimmed Racemark steering wheel fronts Smiths gauges including a 120-mph speedometer, a tachometer, and gauges for oil pressure, coolant temperature, and fuel level. The turn signal switch has been relocated to the left-side base of the dash. The five-digit odometer shows 62k miles, approximately 40 of which were added by the seller. Total mileage is unknown.
The 2.9-liter inline-six is equipped with three SU carburetors, and the seller states that service since December 2021 includes purging the fuel lines, cleaning and sealing the fuel tank, cleaning the carburetor bowls, pressure testing the radiator, installing a fuel-pump cutoff switch, and replacing the fuel pump, fuel level sending unit, water pump, thermostat, coolant hoses, and muffler. The seller reports that the carburetors require adjustment and that the engine needs a tune-up. Videos showing compression readings for each cylinder are included in the gallery.
Power is sent to the rear wheels via a four-speed manual transmission with an overdrive unit. The seller reports that the clutch master cylinder and fluid line have been replaced and the slave cylinder has been rebuilt. The second-gear synchromesh grinds during shifting.
The British Motor Industry Heritage Trust certificate shows the factory colors and equipment, together with a build date in December 1961.
