This 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 BT7 Mk I is said to have been owned in California before being relocated in the 1980s to Colorado, where the seller acquired it in 2006. The 2.9-liter inline-six and the four-speed manual transmission with overdrive were rebuilt in 2006, and the car was repainted in 2007. The project stalled around that time, and it was subsequently media-blasted in late 2025. Previously painted white, the vehicle comes with red interior components as well as 15″ knock-off wire wheels, front disc brakes, a tonneau cover, a banjo-style steering wheel, Smiths gauges, and a cabin heater. This 3000 is an unassembled project that is now offered at no reserve with removed parts, records from current and prior ownership, a service manual, and a Colorado title in the seller’s name.
The car was prepped and painted white in 2007, and the seller states that the body was media-blasted to bare metal in November 2025 to correct paint separation caused by poor compatibility between the primer and the paint. The seller notes that the recent media-blasting revealed evidence of previous damage, and repair panels were sourced for the rear portions of both front fenders, both rear fenders, and the lower sections of both doors. Chrome bumpers, bright trim, and other exterior parts will accompany the vehicle.
Silver-painted 15″ knock-off wire wheels are mounted with 185/65 Pirelli P2000 tires. Front disc brakes and rear drums are included in the sale.
Red seats and other interior trim are among the pieces intended for the project, as pictured in the gallery below. The seller states that the seats, dashboard, and gauges have been cleaned, and replacement carpeting has been sourced.
A banjo-style steering wheel is installed. Smiths instrumentation includes a five-digit odometer displaying 65k miles. The car was driven less than 100 miles under current ownership before the powertrain was removed, the seller tells us.
The 2.9-liter inline-six was overbored and rebuilt in 2006. The four-speed manual transmission and its complementary Laycock de Normanville electric overdrive unit also were rebuilt in 2006. The powertrain elements have not been reinstalled in the vehicle. A replacement fuel tank is included in the sale, as is a pair of SU carburetors. The frame and suspension parts have been media-blasted.
The car’s chassis number is HBT7L7962, whereas the title cites that sequence but with a zero separating the two portions, reading HBT7L07962.
